About this photo

Black Basalt forms the broad surround of this rectangular fire pit, framing a recessed bed of dark stones and a central line of flame. Its grey surface contrasts with the darker rectangular patio paving, while blue-striped chairs face inward along both sides.

Behind the seating, layered grey walls and a pale pebble strip create a horizontal boundary below the raised pool edge. The flat-roof pavilion beyond echoes the straight lines of the fire pit and surrounding hardscape.
